Through strengthened linkages, the South Los Angeles Best Babies Collaborative (SLABBC) expects to promote more integrated, coordinated and comprehensive services for pregnant and parenting women and teenagers. We will accomplish this through the implementation of an array of interventions focused on the core areas of Outreach, Health Education and Messaging, Case Management, Social Support, and Interconception Care.
In order to achieve our desired outcome of healthier pregnancies and birth outcomes in South Los Angeles, the SLABBC will establish many new interagency activities including:
- Agencies convening to share resources and best practices
- Promotion of consistent outreach and education messages
- Linked referrals
- Targeted focus on identification, referral, tracking and follow-up of high-risk women and teens
- Use of a common tracking and evaluation system
- New and expanded teen services
- Coordinated training curriculum for SLABBC staff/agency capacity-building
- Focus on the interconception period
- Increased social support resources
- Documentation of service deficits
South Los Angeles BBC Service Area:
The SLABBC will provide services to women and teens in South Los Angeles. Our priority target areas includes the zip codes of: 90001, 90002, 90003, 90011, 90037, 90044, 90059, 90061, 9020, 90221, 90222, 90255, 90262, 90280 and the communities of: Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Compton, Huntington Park, Los Angeles, Lynwood, and South Gate.
